After many sleepless nights, countless impassioned speeches and hours of
heated debate, we are pleased to announce the theme for the 2009 NYC
Decompression Party:

Eschaton: The Final 3,000.

You can learn more about the theme at nycdecompression.org. We encourage
rampant Googling, debate and personal interpretation.

Also on nycdecompression.org, you will find a link at the bottom of the
screen (you may need to scroll down) to purchase tickets. Ticket prices
are as follows:

First Tier: $15 (100 tickets)
Second Tier: $20 (400 tickets)
Third Tier: $25 (500 tickets)
Fourth Tier: $30 remaining tickets

Tickets go on sale at 4pm today!!

These tiers work the same way as Burning Man: each tier is available in
limited numbers, and once we sell out that tier, ticket prices will go up.
In the spirit of Burning Man, radical inclusiveness and all things
awesome, please purchase tickets at the highest level financially feasible
for you. We want to give NYC Burners the first crack at tickets, so for
the moment please refrain from re-posting this to other regional lists.

We are all very excited about Decom this year, and you should be too.
Remember that this is a participatory event, so bring your personal brand
of awesomeness in whatever form it takes (and volunteering always gets you
laid).

Large room for rent in a very cool creative household in Brooklyn on the border of Clinton Hill and Bed Stuy at Classon Ave and Fulton St. avail July 1st. Trains are C to Franklin Ave (2 blocks away) or G to Classon Ave (about 10 minute walk). You would be living in the top floor apartment, which has 2 bedrooms, kitchen, living room, full bath, washer dryer, skylights, plants and good vibes. It’s really clean and we like to keep it that way..

You would be sharing the floor with 1 person- she is respectful, super neat, and talented musician who works full time and likes to cook. Hoping to find someone who watches tv very little.

Fax/phone landline; wireless internet; cable (averages around $125/month for all bills)
Rent is $900/month

Bonus: It’s a 4-floor Brownstone and we have access to the rest of the house where 5 other housemates live. That includes another living room, kitchen, 2 more bathrooms, guest room w/ bath, basement and backyard. Housemates are all artistic, respectful, and laid-back, they work as a photographer, film critic, sound engineer, musician/sound engineer, and health care practitioner. Sometimes we make brunch together, watch movies together, drink home brewed beer, and have gatherings. But most of the time we never see each other because everyone works a lot and is on the go. So you really have the best of both worlds- you can be quiet and chill, or you can be social and active. The best part is that the house is so spacious!

There is one cat that lives downstairs, and there might be a kitten on the way. No smoking in the house.

Parking is easy for those with a car.

If you are the right person these priorities will excite you:

Clean, clean, clean. As in once a week the bathroom/kitchen area is swept and mopped, and the tub/sink/toilet are cleaned. As in your dishes stay rinsed/washed and put away.

Music is good and wonderful. TV takes a low priority (in other words, no couch potatoes please, but there is cable tv).

Friendly gatherings are good. Things get quiet by midnight Sun - Thurs.

Responsibility for shared supplies and duties. As in, buying toilet paper and dish soap BEFORE it runs out.

The public space is to each their own on food and dishes. As in you buy it, you eat it, use it and clean it - and I buy it, I eat it, use it and clean it.

This is a creative, artistic minded household, how do you fit in with that?

Please call or email me if you’re interested. Photos available on request.

First up, there is one huge change:
VITAMIN B IS RETURNING TO OUR ORIGINAL LOFT SPACE STARTING ON JUNE 5!!!

We realized it was the perfect home for our party, and the people who run the space are kind enough to have us back. Things are going back to the way they were when you first went to our party and fell in love with it. You can expect:

Booming sound in an underground brooklyn loft
Circus performers and aerial acrobats
Ridiculous beats
Lots of space to dance
A beautiful chill out space

And to add to the craziness, we have caught one of the biggest names in the game to kill it for us!! For the June party, we are bringing in the breakbeat legend, DJ FIXX, to break your faces with his old-school basslines, rapid-fire trebles, and sick melodies. We can't even express how excited we are for this guy. When we first started talking about throwing vB, we compiled a short list of DJs and producers that we go crazy for and would love to have come down to Brooklyn and join us. Fixx was near the top of that list. He is a legend in the game, and probably made about a quarter of the tracks that you have rocked out hardest to over the past 10 years. With over 150 12" releases, 50 digital releases, and 5 cds under his belt, you can expect to dance your ass off.

Check out more info at www.myspace.com/djfixx

We also have a returning vB veteran coming back to rage out again. DJ PHUNKAE came through back in February and really blew things up with his heavy duty bangers and original bootleg remixes, so we are stoked to have him back again and joining us in June. Now running his own label, Real Hype Records, Phunkae has been putting out some of the hottest tracks of 2009, and you can expect to hear some gems that no one else has heard yet. We love this guy.

Of course you will be hearing from Tarquin, Tektite, and Cecil Grey as well, with a sick mixture of Electro House, Breakbeats, Dubstep, Baltimore booty, and whatever else they feel like playing that packs enough bass to make your hair stand up.

There is just one change that we are making to our policy this time around, but it shouldn't be a terribly big deal. We need everyone to RSVP who is planning on coming. There is no prepay requirement. Just due to the underground space, we need to keep the party low key, and have everyone put themselves on the list before the event. We will also be enforcing 21+ this time around. So if you thinking you might be coming, just go to www.vitaminbreaks.com and sign up. See, that wasn't so bad was it?

Upon RSVP, we will reply with the address of the party.

So come join us for a night of dancing, drinking, and laughing on June 5th.

Vitamin B
6/5/09 10pm - 5am
$10 before midnight/$15 after
Off the Clinton/Washington A,C,G stops (RSVP for exact address)

For more information, to RSVP, and to download mixes go to www.vitaminbreaks.com

Hello Everyone!

As you may or may not know, Sean and I are moving to the lovely country of Japan for an entire year. Hopefully upon our return we will be loaded with cash, amusing anecdotes, and a substantial amount of cultural awareness.

So come spin fire on our roof this Saturday! May 30!
It is quite large with a lovely view of manhattan and often accessible by elevator.

Come bring food and drink! Let us toast to the city with a rousing potluck of camaraderie and inferno.

We live on 100 South 4th St (between Bedford Ave and Berry). It's acessible by the L Bedford Train and the JMZ Marcy stop, but the L is more straightforward. Our apartment is 4K, but most likely you'll just head up to the roof. Iif no one answers 4K, it means we're on the roof, and you're stuck at the entrance to the building till someone exits/enters. If you're REALLY in a pickle and no one's going in or out, call my cell (786-514-5015) or call Sean (214-534-5540). I'll run down and let you in.

Take the elevator (if working) to the 7th floor. Then open the unmarked door to reveal a set of stairs onto the roof on the 8th floor. God Speed. The staircase is down the hall, not the one right next to the elevator. If you have trouble finding it, just try all the doors, and pretend you're part of a game show!

One thing we do *need* is a decent set of speakers/boombox. I do have ipod speakers, but they are known to be pathetic and quiet. If you have a boombox that can be run on batteries (there's a lack of power outlets on the roof), you will be the king/queen of the evening and have every right to play whatever music you please. Even if it is something i don't particularly care for. What fun!

So if you have fuel, bring it. If not, use ours. We've got to get rid of every last drop. And whatever doesn't get burnt up is yours to take for a party favor!

Also, I've been informed to tell 'yall that we will also be celebrating our own LAURA DARRELL's Birthday Party. LD is a sorority girl, LA diva, chart topping Christmas caroler, fake latina, grammy nominee, and official Burning Man D List Celebrity or Higher. She will be pissed if we leave her out. So wish her a happy 22, won't ya? And if we're lucky, she'll serenade us with some lilting tune.

So yes, this is your last chance to hang out with us on our lovely roof as we leave the next morn on a Uhaul set for hauling our shit to Texas. Let's make something BURN!

I have an RV reserved from Sacramento and wanted to see if anyone was looking to join us in the rental. We had a few people drop out. We're not part of a camp yet, but are still looking for one, so please let me know if you have any suggestions too!

The trip will take about 5 and a half hours from Sacramento. (Sacramento was the closest place I could reserve an RV when I did this last August.) The reservation is $3409 from Saturday, 8/29/09 - Tuesday, 9/8/09. (Burning Man is Sunday, 8/31/09 - Monday, 9/7/09.) I had reserved this thinking we would have a group going - this can sleep 6 people. ( http://www.cruiseamerica.com/rent/our_vehicles/large_rv.aspx ) At $3409, it's pretty expensive for two people, so we would either need to find more people or transfer the reservation to someone who can use it.

Let me know if you're looking for an RV or are interested in taking over the reservation!

Of course you do. Who the hell doesn't?

Well keep Friday open, cause your favorite monthly bassfest is coming back to make it go boom all over again. We are keeping it 100% Brooklyn style this month with a lineup of 5 sick bastards who like to crush it with some deep, heavy hitting, hip-hop influenced bangers. Of course this hip hop is layered over erratic breakbeats and nausea-inducing basslines, but thats why you love our party.

This month:

CROOKED DISCO (Kestar and Morsy)

This guys are known for throwing one of the most exhilarating parties in Brooklyn, and they're gonna be bringing that same vibe to vB this month. Expect a whole eclectic mess of breakbeats, hip hop, electro house, funk, indie, and whatever else they happen to be enjoying at the moment. It's gonna get sweaty, but don't wory, the bar is close to the dancefloor

Also supporting these two are going to be the vB residents: Tektite, Cecil Grey, and Tarquin. They'll bring it like they always do, and keep it going from 10 to 5am. You'll hear it all, and can probably expect some dirty baltimore breaks and dubstep at the end of the night, o even if you have 10 things to do this friday, it'll be worth it to come in and shake your booty for an hour or two, beginning, middle or end.

Beyond the music, you can expect one of the most beautiful clubs in Brooklyn, aerial silk acrobats, cheap drinks, amazing not-cheap drinks for those who are so inclined, and amazing dancing.

Come out and enjoy, cause we're gonna kill it, and don't forget to say you're there for Vitamin B!!!
Also, just to let everyone know, on http://www.vitaminbreaks.com you can find music mixes, and for some pre party music, go to http://jungoroad.com to get the new podcast by Tarquin. 28 tracks in 60 minutes. It gets dirty.

So i was not speedy enough, and didn't rent an RV in time. I am looking to hook up w/ a group that has an extra spot or two in an RV. Preferably leaving from Reno, or San Fran.

If you're part of a camp, that'd be great. Of course, i'd share in the expense and in all group effort.
I'm hoping someone from NY has a rental leaving from Reno or FS, so we could meet and see if I fit the particular group/RV dynamic. and vice versa.

If anyone has any spots, please let me know!

I've done BM in a tent, and will do again if necessary.....but the comfort of an RV would definitely be nice. :)

Captain Zorikh here, maker of "Combat Twister" (http://www.captainzorikh.com/combattwister), which has had screenings at Otto's Shrunken Head and the I-Con Sci-Fi convention and has been invited to the Royal Flush Film Festival. I have been working on my latest movie, "Redemption," and after three months of auditions, workshops, training, and rehearsals (chronicled at http://www.youtube.co... and http://czredemption.b..., my next movie, "Redemption," is ready to shoot, this weekend and next weekend in NYC, Williamsburg, and Connecticut.

This movie aims to do for the sport and martial art of submission grappling what “Rocky” did for boxing, “Karate Kid” did for youth karate, “Bad News Bears” did for little league baseball, and “Role Models” has done for Live Action Role Playing.

The story involves two teams, one of "legit" martial artists, one of "underground" fighters, who meet in tournament once a year, and one man who learns what it is to work hard and try to be the best he can be through submission grappling.

This movie has attracted the attention and participation of people from all angles of the NYC-area wrestling and martial arts scene, including multi-disciplinary black belts and champion fighters, famous pro wrestlers, and highly active people in the underground wrestling scene. Is has attracted sponsorship from the Sprawl fight shorts company and the Long Island Meadery. It already has several screening dates lined up, and will be submitted to festivals like the Brick Theater's "Fight Fest." and the Royal Flush film festival.

The thing is, I don't have enough camera people for the coverage I need. I need two this Saturday , Sunday and next Sunday, and three next Saturday. I have one this Saturday and next Sunday, and none this Sunday and next Saturday.

A sound man and some PA's would always be nice too, and I will make do with what I can get.

This is an all-volunteer production, but I will cover reasonable expenses (travel, blank tape, etc) and provide food on shoot days.

If you can help me, please contact me at zorikh-at-juno.com. This movie has got too much potential to not do right!

Hello Burners,

Disorient is in need of your help. We are creating Watershed, a large scale eco-installation of empty water bottles donated by Burners that will evolve/amass at Burning Man as the week passes by. We plan to launch the first phase of this project at the FIGMENT event on Governors Island this summer and need your help in collecting empty water containers for the project. Help donate to this cause and turn your waste into an eco-art installation.

What we need:
We need donations of empty 1 gallon and 2.5 gallon water containers - please nothing larger and nothing smaller.
Here is what the water containers look like http://tinyurl.com/cewanu

Where to drop off:
23-23 33rd Road, Astoria/LIC, NYC
Please drop off at the basement door.

Or meet me, Archer, at the NYC Burner Happy Hour April 15th and/or 22nd.

When to drop off:
You can drop off to the Astoria/LIC location anytime - 24/7. No need to even ring the bell.
You can also meet me at the NYC Burner Happy Hour April 15th and/or 22nd.

Deadline:
We need these by April 24th

How many do we need?
As many as possible!

Watershed at FIGMENT, and later at GlamTech, will be used to test Watershed for Burning Man. The water containers collected in NYC will not be shipped to BRC. We will collect water containers at Burning Man for that phase of the project.

For more information on Disorient's Watershed project and to view photos of the water containers we are looking for please click here http://wiki.disorient.info/index.php?title=Watershed

With the help of the awesome people behind Deity we have worked out some drink specials for you.

There will be a $5 VitaminB drink, multiple $5 beers, $6 shot of tequila, and $7 rum punch. All that in addition to the top notch specialty cocktails and premium beers that are available.

As if that were not enough, the have kindly offered to do 2 for 1 well drinks from 10pm till midnight!

Deity has also done something else very special for us, they have retrofitted their club with two silk rigs! We will have two girls doing simultaneous performances throughout the evening! We are set to completely rock out at our new home, and we hope you can join us.

-----

Alright breakers, we've got some apologizing to do. We know everyone was amped for the March vB, most of all Morsy and Kestar, the two amazing djs from Crooked Disco that we had booked, and we are really sorry for having had to cancel. Unfortunately for all, we were having some problems with the venue, but as of this week, those problems are no more!

VitaminB is officially moving to a new home in Downtown Brooklyn, and you won't believe how sick this space is! Deity (the space) is a renovated temple with a soul-shaking soundsystem on two floors, and the combination of bass and atmosphere might drive you to prayer. Best of all, no more problems with blown fuses and police drivebys. We really can't relay how excited we are, and we're kinda planning on driving everyone to sacrilege on the dancefloor.

As we finally have a liquor license at the venue, we are also going to have a full bar that is stocked to the brim. Alas, no more BYOB, but if you like bourbon as much as I do, you'll be fucking stoked. For those that aren't into the crazy drinks, we are going to have cheap beers and drink specials all night, and we are currently negotiating either an open bar or 2 for 1s until midnight included in the cover. We know breaks and alcohol go together like cigarettes and sex, so don't worry, we aren't gonna let you down.

The crazy thing is, we haven't even gotten to the best part yet. We are importing Raydeus this month from the west coast. He is loaded with that that west coast flavor, and you haven't felt bass like this since...well ever. Exploring everything from electro to techfunk to dubstep, this guy has played with the best of the best, and he is pumped to blow some east coast minds. Of course he'll be backed up by our boy Chad North from Erase records and the vB residents (Tarquin, Tektite, and Cecil Grey).

Basically, mark off your calendar for April 3rd, because we're gonna make up for missing out in March. Stay tuned for drink specials and expect some nice little suprises going off through the night.

VitaminB V @ Deity NYC
368 Atlantic Ave. at Hoyt St
Near the A,C,F,G,Q,D,R,B (seriously, we're actually accessible now)
10pm - 5am
$10

As for what to wear, here's the deal. House rule is no jerseys, work boots, or yankees hats. Not a big deal, but don't let any kinda code scare you. Wear whatever the hell you want. Dress up, dress down, dress playa, or dress like you always do. Just come to have fun and don't wear your timbs.

We'll see you there kids,

Raydeus
(Pronoia / www.raydeus.com, SF)
A staple of the San Francisco underground scene and co-founder of the Pronoia DJ collective, Raydeus spins melting concoctions of everything from fidgety techfunk to stomping electro (with touches of dubstep and DnB) that make people dance their asses off. He's made a name for himself in the Bay Area & beyond with seamless mixing skills and bulletproof track selection that's always dirty, hard-driving, & funky. He has played at SF Love Fest, numerous venues of all kinds in California, countless Burning Man sets, and shared lineups with the likes of Deadmau5, Wolfgang Gartner, Kid Kenobi, Simply Jeff, Ed209, Nick Thayer, and Splitloop, to name a few.

Download mixes and get more info at www.raydeus.com

Chad North
(Erase / Bad Advice / Exceptional / www.jungoroad.com, NYC)
A producer first, DJ second, Chad has honed his sound to an eclectic mix of minimal house/techno, breakbeat, and electro - or as some people call it - simply 'tech-funk'. Although a classically trained musician and a professional composer before he ventured into the underground, Chad has played a significant role in promoting tech-funk while living in Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, and now New York City. Though new to NYC, Chad has teamed up with DJ/friend Dale Phurrough to start blogsite/podcast Jungo Road (www.jungoroad.com), featuring weekly guest DJ mixes from some of the best DJ/producers in the US and beyond - with intention of building the breaks and tech-funk community here. As a producer, Chad has current and upcoming releases on Erase Records (UK/Greece), Bad Advice Music (Chicago), and Exceptional (UK).

Do you all know about Piss Clear, the Burner magazine, that was around for 13 years? It’s been called “the Vice Magazine of the playa” – sharp and funny with an alternative view of Black Rock City. I found out that RE/Search Publications has published BURNING MAN LIVE, which has the best of all 13 years (1994-2007), including “Best of Black Rock City,” “Sex and Drugs,” “Playa Fashion Do’s and Don’ts,” “You Know You’re a Burner When…” “Borg Wars,” interviews with Larry Harvey (Burning Man cofounder) and Harley DuBois (Director of Community Services), and introductions by Brian Doherty, Adrian Roberts, and Malderor. This book is 320 pages, and HUGE (8.5 by 11 inches) of pure Burning Man history– highly recommended – with really great articles and photos.
(while it looks like the link is incomplete, it works. if you do have any problems, though, you can just go to www.researchpubs.com)

Anyway, it's an amazing book and I suggest you all check it out, if interested.

NOTE: I found this message from another BM I'm a part of. I ordered the book -- loved it, talked to the woman who is spreading the word -- and now I'm spreading the word, too. This reminds me of the old BM days, as well as the more recent. It's great fun!

WickerMan 2009
Set-up May 15-17, The Burn May 21-25

WickerMan brings together Burn Culture, the Art of Giving and Ecological Responsibility in a festival that depends on the Radical Self-Expression of each individual. Based on the tenets of Burning Man of the Black Rock Desert, we actively incorporate their founding principles- Communal Participation, Decommodification, Radical Inclusion and Radical Self-Reliance. In essence, at WickerMan, Radical Self-Expression Meets Radical Earth Spirit.

We convene to celebrate what we as individuals offer to the community, through Art, Gifting and Self-Reliant Participation. Together we commune within the land to build and burn the biggest Man east of the Mississippi River. Individual participation is what makes this event happen, we depend on each other for content and execution. Every contribution, from Volunteering to Art Creation is essential to facilitate this WickerMan. What do you bring to the table?

Art, in its many mysterious ways, is at the core of this event. WickerMan offers over $6000 in Art Grants to fund a variety of initiatives, everything from Theme Camps, to beautiful Installations, Altars and Performance. Through Action and Creation we transcend the expected and stretch the paradigm of the possible.

WickerMan will again take place at Four Quarters of Artemas, PA, a beautifully ecologically diverse campground. Four Quarters has natural swimming holes in Sideling Creek, rolling meadows and pine forest. Four Quarters also has a great Ride-Share database to help you carpool to the event. Bring yourself and your inspiration to be a part of a community separate from the 'default world'. Check out www.wickermanburn.org for more information, Art Grants, voluteering and event registration.

This month we are coming hard, and giving one of our residents a prime time slot to throw down. Cecil Grey will be our headliner this month, and as a special treat he will be premiering his new single “Yeah” forthcoming on Sub Swara's remix album. This breaks track is sick, I have been begging him to give me a copy since I first caught a preview in the studio. I fully expect this to break into the top 10 breakbeat chart.

For Immediate Release: Chapel of Sacred Mirrors leaves NYC,
CoSM Sanctuary to open in Wappinger, NY mid-2009.

The Chapel of Sacred Mirrors has been a sanctuary for contemplation and events encouraging the creative spirit in New York City since 2004. Hundreds of thousands of people have visited Alex and Allyson Grey’s living brochure; their vision of a permanent home, but the lease has ended. CoSM is pleased to announce the purchase of 40-acre former interfaith retreat campus, 65 miles up the Hudson River. It’s a 20-minute walk from the New Hamburg MetroNorth station or about an hour’s drive from NYC.

CoSM Sanctuary will offer spiritual gatherings; educational and cultural events emphasizing art as a spiritual practice. Visionary artists, musicians, dancers, scientists and teachers will share their wisdom here. Sun-filled galleries and libraries will provide meditative and contemplative space for the mind, body and soul. The chapel you have seen in sculpted model will be built for the artwork of Alex Grey and others.

CoSM Sanctuary has wonderful opportunities, but its upkeep was neglected for many years and its buildings have fallen into disrepair. With your help, this once-magnificent estate can be repurposed.

The brick carriage house will be converted to exhibit the Sacred Mirrors. A conference building will host art, meditation and yoga classes. A cabin in the woods will become a studio where artists-in-residence can paint and sculpt for the Chapel and beyond. The main house, a stunning wood-frame Victorian, needs extensive renovation to be weatherproof and energy-efficient. Simple, affordable overnight lodging and dining for up to 100 people will be available.

The Chapel of Sacred Mirrors is a 501(c)(3) organization, supported solely by donations from the community, which are deductible on income and estate taxes. Financial contributions and skilled volunteers are needed. An estimated two million dollars is required for renovation. There are tens of thousands of fans of Alex Grey and the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors, just ten dollars from each can add up quickly.
You can donate online at http://cosm.org/donate.html
Or visit our web stores, at http://cosm.org/shop.html and http://www.alexgrey.com/shop.html, and buy a piece of art history.
Checks may be mailed to Chapel of Sacred Mirrors, PO Box 20668, N, NY 10011

If you have time and skills to offer in Wappinger, please write to our volunteer coordinator: cosm.art.sanctuary@gmail.com

If you can help us move art and furniture from NYC to Wappinger in January, please write to our move coordinator Mz. imani -
cosm.move.nyc@gmail.com

With your help, says founding artist Alex Grey, “We will create sacred space, a new center for creativity as a spiritual path.”

Thank you, and blessings.

We'll be posting some tips on cold weather camping on the website soon - but you also could rent a RV - they are cheap this time of the year. I believe you can rent one for about $150/night - which is not so bad if you can sleep 4-6 people in them.

talented New York producers who are pumping out some of the heaviest
basslines this city has to offer.

Wavewhore's high-energy DJ sets blend many styles of breaks from funk
to tear-out to tech into powerful and effective mixes for the
dancefloor. He has been remixed by 40,000 Wats and Screwface, remixed
D-Ranged, and had releases on many breakbeat labels such as Broke,
Electrofly, Bombtraxx, BreaksFM and Hardcore Beats. I have not taken
his latest track “More Life” out of my record bag since the day it
came out.

Udachi first came to my attention after I heard his monster remix of
AC Slater's Jack Got Jacked. Since then I have hunted down his other
remixes and productions and was blown away by all of them. Between
Udachi and his alter ego dj Brak, credits include remixing Panacea, AC
Slater, Lismore and Jason Tylers in addition to releasing on the
legendary Kniteforce records, and being remixed by Luna-C.

Ideally, I would like to be in the middle of the action, next to subway stops, and don't want to make long commutes to the city. I've only been to Manhattan once and loved it, but never really got to explore Brooklyn or other places. Any suggestions?

One large bedroom available in a beautiful and large furnished 3-bedroom apartment in S.E. Williamsburg. $792/month + electricity + cheap wireless if you want it. Gas/water/heat/fun are included in rent. Available ASAP. 1-month deposit and last month's rent to move in. This is a great deal for a wonderful pad.

We're both guys and gay, but open to having a roommate of any gender, straight/gay/bi/whatever -- just so long as you're likable and responsible.

THE APARTMENT: This is a beautiful and spacious 2nd-floor apartment with buzzer and intercom. It's the entire 2nd floor of the building. There’s a large sunny common area (19’7” x 13’ with 14' ceiling) and a beautiful kitchen with new/near-new appliances, countertops, and cupboards. Best of all, the apartment has a large private terrace in back, with a BBQ, patio chairs, and our modest attempt at a patio garden. There's another large terrace in front for hipster-watching on the street. The bathroom is large and fabulously retro: a matching toilet, great bathtub, and even a bidet. (That's right, this bathroom has a bidet.) The apartment is fully furnished.

YOUR ROOM: The bedroom for sublet is big (10’3” x 14’6”) with high ceiling, an exposed brick wall, double-doors that open out into the spacious shared living room area. Unfortunately, there are no windows in this room – though if you open up your doors you face the sunny living room (w/ air con when needed) and walk over to the terrace. The room includes a desk and a chair. You can buy the bed, closet, lamps and shelves for a lump sum of $150, if you want.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD: Great subway access! The apartment is 4 blocks from 3 different subways: L (Montrose), JMZ (Lorimer), and G (Broadway). It’s located at Montrose Ave and Leonard St., in a safe non-industrial neighborhood – mostly Puerto Rican families, but with a recent tsunami of hip young kids. The apartment is across the street from an elementary school and kitty-corner from a park (complete with baseball fields, basketball court, and a playground for kids). Close to grocery stores, laundry, bodegas everywhere, etc.

YOUR ROOMMATES: We're both laid-back, drama-free, creative, pick-up-after-yourself kind of guys -- college grads, with steady 9-5 jobs. Both non-smokers -- though one of us likes 420, so please be OK with that. One vegetarian, one carnivore. One is a writer; the other is into theater. You can find more info about us at (friendster.com/electrotrash) and (friendster.com/croftinator).

YOU: Artists, writers, well-traveled, interesting, Burners, and creative people in general encouraged to apply. Be fun and have a life of your own – but no partying in the apartment all night. Girls/guys/straight/gay all welcome. Be friendly, but respect our privacy. Be clean, but not anally so. You can have guests sleep over on occasion, of course, but we don’t want a couple moving in. We're looking for a long-term tenant -- no short-term sublets.

No pets. No cigarette-smoking inside. Contact Mark/ElectroPants at theywantusdead@live.com .

I will be heading up to the big city Oct 10-21 and would love to meet up with some NY Burners. I am coming up for a wedding in Boston but trying to spend most of my time in NY. Haven't been back in 12 yrs so looking for some fun action and entertainment. I do have family there but would rather crash on a couch of more interesting people, so if you have one and would love the company then I am all yours!
Also, If there are any parties going on, then please do inform me!
Give me a jingle @ 970-306-2204. I rarely check email...too busy with living but I am sure I will check it before heading that way.

For those that didn't go this year -

Tear down your house. Put it in a truck. Drive 10 hours in any
direction. Put the house back together. Invite everyone you meet to come
over and party. When everyone leaves, follow them back to their homes,
drink all their booze, and break things.

Buy a new set of expensive camping gear. Break it.

Stack all your fans in one corner of your living room. Put on your most
fabulous outfit. Turn the fans on full blast. Dump a full vacuum cleaner
bag in front of them.

Pitch your tent next to the wall of speakers in a crowded, noisy club.
Go to sleep. Wake up 2 hours later in a 110+ degree tent.

Buy a new pair of favorite shoes. Throw one shoe away.

Only use the toilet in a house that is at least 3 blocks away. Drain
all the water from the toilet. Only flush it every 4 days. Hide all the
toilet paper.

Pay an escort of your affectionate preference to not bathe for five days,
cover themselves in glitter, dust, and sunscreen, wear a skanky neon wig;
dance closely naked with you, then say they have a lover back home at
the end of the night.

Visit a restaurant and pay them to let you alternate lying in the walk-in
freezer and sitting in the oven.

Don't sleep for 5 days. Take a wide variety of hallucinogenic/emotion
altering drugs. Pick a fight with your boyfriend/girlfriend.

Cut, burn, electrocute, bruise, and sunburn various parts of your body.
Forget how you did it. Don't go to a doctor.

Spend a whole year rummaging through thrift stores for the perfect,
most outrageous costume. Forget to pack it.

Spend weeks preparing and freezing tasty, nutritious food and then forget
it in your trunk for a few days of 110 degree heat. Eat it anyway -
and like it.

Listen to music you hate for 168 hours straight, or until you think you
are going to scream. Scream. Realize you'll love the music for the rest
of your life.

Get so drunk you can't recognize your own house. Walk slowly around the
block for 5 hours.

Sprinkle dirty sand in all your food.

Mail $273 to the Reno casino of your choice. (price of average BM ticket
in 2008)

Go to a museum. Find one of Salvador Dali's more disturbing but beautiful
paintings. Climb inside it.

Spend thousands of dollars creating a deeply personal art work. Hide it
in a funhouse on the edge of the city. Blow it up.
Set up a DJ system downwind of a three alarm fire. Play a short loop of
drum'n'bass until the embers are cold.

Have a 3 a.m., soul-baring conversation with a drag nun in platforms, a
crocodile, and Bugs Bunny. Be unable to tell if you're hallucinating.
